I would like to share with you the experience of an afternoon walk in Positano, looking down from Via Cristoforo Colombo towards the main beach. My first impression was just that overwhelming vistas of shimmering turqouise sea (the Gulf of Salerno), slightly rippled by a soft and salty breeze.
I sat down for a light lunch of bruschetta al pomodoro and basilico (tomato and basilic bruschetta) at a streetside cafe, fully taking in this breathtaking view of the sun rays dancing on the water. The bruschetta tasted excellent, just seasoned with finest olive oil and sea salt.
Walking down towards Via Mulini (a wisteria and bougainville-covered alley going rather straight down to the beach front), fig trees, olives and cacti lined the street...
...and to the right the cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta came into view.
As I am always extremely interested in discovering and then of course visiting hotels, I could not help noticing the beautiful Hotel Marincanto (you can follow this link to their homepage). I will come back to that story another time.
This is a very leisurely walk down towards the beach, lined with both white-washed and brightly painted houses covered by fairy-tale plants, such as the giant bougainville and real jasmine bushes and their intoxicating white blossoms that thrive in this sun-blessed part of the world.
To be continued soon...
