Autumn in Sorrento: November colors

2012-11-01

Even there are rainy spells and thunderstorms spreading across the Peninsula, you can still take advantage of many delightful hours of sun in autumn, and why not, enjoy the colors of the gardens abounding here. This is what Via Califano, just above the tuff stone plateaux of Sorrento, looks like now: For a short stretch, from the road, you get the view of gardens, lined with huge bougainvillea, still in bloom, but slightly faded and a bit brownish blossoms, and of course the olive trees, full with almost mature fruit as harvest time is just round the corner. After theses spells of rain, it is heaven to breath in the salty air from the sea, mingled with the scents of the newly watered plants and trees, something to enjoy !!
Laurels, evergreen oaks and bougainvillea lining the stone walls that separate this garden stretch, across which passers-by ...
... can enjoy a view of the Gulf of Naples. Yucca, olive trees, and lemons ...
... and the odd pine tree standing tall above everything else,  with a view towards Massalubrense which is behind this slope.
