Costiera Filmcards: Anacapri suggestions for a walk in autumn

2012-10-27

Here is a fine video to watch and enjoy, packed with suggestions for an autumn walk across the territory of Anacapri. Actually, if you have ever witnessed the parching summer sun, it is more indicated to stroll through the village of Anacapri in the autumn months, or spring months, of course. Take time to visit the Churches of Santa Sofia and San Michele, take a walk across le Botte (the oriental-looking part of old town), or even take a hike up or down on Monte Solaro. In my post "Visit to a White Church in Anacapri" on this blog, I am describing the history and interior of the Church of San Michele.
A few impressions of Anacapri's main road (pedestrian) that leads from the bus stop at Piazza xx towards the old town center with the church of Santa Sofia, passing by both the church of San Michele and the Red House (Casa Rossa).

Another glimpse of lush gardens on the one hand and white houses lightened up with bougainvillea on the other side (Picture was taken in September).
The video I would like to share here, conveys the atmosphere of a walk through the village, plus glimpses of the lush vegetation, including palms, yuccas, bougainvillea. You will see the Roman villa Damecuta, one of the twelve villas built by Roman emperor Tiberius who lived on Capri for 10 years until the year 37 AD when he died on Capri. You can read more about Tiberius here.
Also, the Casa Rossa (construction finished in 1899, next to a 14th century tower, on behalf of an Amercian cornel John K. MacKowen) situated on Via Orlandi is viewed, and so is the world-famous Blue Grotto, the Grotta Azzurra. You could also witness a trip up in the chair lift on Capri's most prominent peak, the Monte Solaro.
