Sunday in Sorrento

2012-10-28

Even though the weather has taken a turn for the cold, with more rain expected for the next few hours and tomorrow, a few sunny spells interrupt the cloudy cover of the sky, enabling me to take a few wonderful early morning pictures across the Gulf of Naples and of a tropical garden in Sorrento.
Vesuvius contrasting nitidly against the pale blue morning sky, with further shades of blue added by the huge plumbago plant growing just at the edge of the terrace overlooking the shore in Sorrento
Turning back and looking towards the mountain ridge against which Sorrento is nestled, you can still see the heavy clouds cover. Another plumbago plant (higher than me, of course) is leading the way towards a winding pathway around the garden.
Another view of this historical garden that was part of the Counts of Terranova's garden and is now part of Hotel Ambasciatori's in Sorrento. Plumbago, and right behind the lamp is a philodendron, its foliage fresh from the recent rain spells.
